What is Crypto Airdrop and How to Participate?

An Airdrop is a free distribution of crypto coins or tokens to the crypto community. Airdrops are a quick and easy way of getting your hands on some crypto for free in an exchange for a task.

To be a recipient of an airdrop I suggest you make an account on Bitcointalk, Telegram, Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit to be able to participate in airdrops because every airdrop has a different set of rules. 

For example, you are to share a post on twitter and join a specific telegram group or you need to contact a member of the team on Bitcointalk forum and in return, you will receive XXX number of coins. The tradeoff is you get free coins and they get more audience and market that would make noise and help them spread the news about their coin projects to the investing people.


So how do you start participating in an airdrop?

Let's go to that one by one.





Step 1. My Ether Wallet



You have to create a (MEW) here .This is where the coins you received from the airdrop will be sent sometime in the future. You will be needing your ETH Address from this wallet on some airdrop sites.


To create a mew wallet:

1. Input your desired password and click on "Create new wallet"

2. Choose "Keystore file (UTC/JSON)" and a file will automatically be downloaded.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT lose this file, it is the key to re-open your MEW wallet.

3. Click "I understand, Continue."

4. Another key will appear and this is some kind of recovery password if you even lose your Keystore file.Also, do not lose this key.

5. Click on "Save your address"

6. On how to unlock your MEW wallet, click on "Keystore file (UTC/JSON)"

7. Choose the file that you just downloaded.

8. Enter password

9. Click "Unlock"

And now you have successfully created your own MEW account. Your ETH Address is located at the top right-hand side of the website.



STEP 2: Telegram, Twitter, and Gmail

You will be needing a telegram account. Register here. What most airdrops do is to let you join their telegram group to get informed about their future news and updates and be involved in their active conversations. Some require messaging the generated code to their telegram to receive your free tokens/coins. It's easy to follow this steps so you shouldn't have to worry anything about it.

Others also require having a twitter account and/or a Gmail account. If still don't have one. You can register here for Twitter and Gmail



STEP 3: Airdrop sites

Now it's time to search those free airdrop sites and get your free tokens. These coins may seem unfamiliar to you since they are just starting up. You can DYOR (Do your own research) about these coins if you are going to invest but let's enjoy these while it's still free. We can never tell what values to these coins possess in the future. It can be 2x 3x 5x or more and the great part is we don't have any cost of acquiring such coin. Nothing to lose but something to gain, maybe.

Usually, airdrop tokens are transferred to your desired address a week after the end of the airdrop event. Normally, this will be announced through their telegram groups or send you an email.

 Basic steps would be putting your ETH Address, joining telegram, chat the code on the telegram group, received your rewards and share your code.
